Research

In my research, I did not find specific combinations of Bluetooth speaker housed inside a box projector. Thus, I looked for technology based products such as speakers and headphones as inspiration. My goal was to understand the current design trends that have to do with technological accessories and how to design a packaging die-line that can be both practical and visually appealing.
Target Audience
The target audience for this project is for those interested in innovative technology accessories. From a young crowd looking to do something creative with their personal smartphone in a budget friendly manner to an established individual who enjoys gadgets that are creative and practical regardless of the cost.
Execution
From my very first iterations for this product I aimed to choose a name that can be easy to remember yet related to the product that is featuring. Therefore, the name Auxbox came from the abbreviation for Auxiliary Chord for audio inputs merging it with the term “box” since it becomes a smartphone projector.
The logo design for the Bluetooth speaker references the audio lights that are often seen in professional instrument mixers or equalizer audio tools. I chose the red color for the vibrancy and energy in contrast to light grays to draw the viewer’s attention. Finally, the bold sans-serif font properly balances the oval design of the logo and provides needed contrast between type and design.
Once the logo was established, it permitted me to use the logo components to design the entire packaging die-line in a very organized way. I also used similar clean graphics to provide interior instructions to show how to properly set up the box as a projector.
This project was definitely an opportunity that I took to push my creative limits by formulating a marketable object along with its brand and packaging presence.
