My objective with this poster was to merge the various disciplines that make up the Art Department of the School of Art and Design from San Diego State University. I decided to use a layering effect that include hints of the various subjects. For instance, there is the incorporation of floor plans for interior design, clusters of type design to symbolize book arts, HTML code for multimedia and engraving design for Graphic Design. The main component of the poster is my original illustration of a muse for art and design. In fact, her right shoulder represents a metal frame and her hands hold tools such as a Kemper (for ceramics) a brush (for painting) and a hammer (for woodworking). I used a warm light background to represent a sketchbook since all aspects of arts can have a sketchbook as a unifying factor. The color of the illustration is a dark gray to make reference to the lead from pencil work. Overall the composition is meant to showcase the various disciplines featured in the Open Studio events in a way that quickly resonates with creativity and art.
